I'm assuming it's a hardware issue since it didn't sound that you did  
any changes to the software configuration.
The problem could also be your modem or maybe simply the cable, who  
knows. Try the 'cheap' basics first.

But also try to think back if you did any configuration changes or  
software upgrades before it started happening.
