I use a "Parallel Compile Jobs" of 2 or 3, depending how I feel on that day. I'm running that on a dual core machine. There are still some issues sometimes, but simply continuing the compile often fixes it. It may be better now, since I did a few changes last week. Unfortunately I didn't have any time to do a couple of test compiles with various settings. I don't use the "Parallel Jobs" one, since that's the one which causes most issues.
