You can also install an IDE to compact flash adapter into your motherboards IDE socket, eg. this one from Conrad <http://preview.tinyurl.com/2elgxj>. To DL this then looks like a real HDD ;-) >>>3) if I create an LVM volume "etc", it is mounted under /shm/var/etc >>>after all. But I don't see etc being mentioned there. Which document are you refering to? > I just thought I can create and mount "etc" volume, so all my /etc stuff goes > there with no need for save-config every time. DL is not really suitable to have /etc/ on a real harddisc. I think you'll find out when you try it out. You'd have to hack the boot process to not depend on etc.tar.bz2 to be available. BTW it is really nice to have to run "save-config" especially in case of remote configuration changes. One simply starts a "shutdown -r 30 &" in the background, does his changes and tests them. In case something goes wrong, eg. you locked yourself out, just go for a coffee as the shutdown will jump in and bring the system back again as it was before. Just saved yourself from hours of riding the car or traveling by plane to some remote location ;-) Only when everything works out fine you do a "save-config". Try that when all your changes are saved to the live system - a reboot won't help you there. Just my 2 cents. -- MfG / Regards Friedrich Lobenstock ____________________________________________________________________ Friedrich Lobenstock Linux Services Lobenstock URL: http://www.lsl.at/ Email: fl...@fl... ____________________________________________________________________ |
