Ok, I hadn't quite got it!

So, can I safely compile some addon binaries on this build system and be 
confident that I can safely add them to the 1.2.12 .iso file downloaded 
from the official mirror?

Widely, my question could expand to "What are the exact prerequisites of an 
"external" binary executable to be able to run on DL?"
For example, can I run a binary from , say, a Debian Sarge install or a 
Centos one?
