I have a bunch of machines with 3Com/Marvell NICs, I used to have a bunch of pretty obscure network problems (particularly communicating with WinXP), that mostly went away after I switched from "sk98lin" to the new "skge" driver. Unfortunately, I have similar problems with some machines running Devil-Linux and this driver is only included in the 2.6.x kernel. I looked all over the internet for a backport of this driver for the 2.4.x kernel. The only location I could find is: http://linux.1wt.eu/kernel/patches-2.4.33-wt3/pool/2.4.33-skge-1.6-1-glue.diff http://linux.1wt.eu/kernel/patches-2.4.33-wt3/pool/2.4.33-skge-1.6-2-files.diff http://linux.1wt.eu/kernel/patches-2.4.33-wt3/pool/2.4.33-skge-1.6-3-build.diff http://linux.1wt.eu/kernel/patches-2.4.33-wt3/pool/2.4.33-skge-1.6-4-build.diff (I couldn't even figure out who is the author/maintainer of these kernel patches) It would be nice to have this driver included in Devil Linux. Maybe someone knows a more "official" source for this backport? I personally tried these patches with the current 1.2 Devil from CVS - I didn't test it very thoroughly yet, but it also seems to work with much better performance in the 2.4.33 kernel. (Btw.: There seems to be a little problem with the build dependencies: Building cpqarrayd and quagga both failed because of misssing snmp) Regards, Peter Daum |
