I keep my configuration on a USB stick. When I want to (remotely) upgrade, I copy the new bootcd.iso to the 'inacti= ve'=20 partition on the Flash Card, copy a vmlinuz and an initrd.gz to the boot=20 directory (renaming them in order not to overwrite the existing ones. I fetch a copy of the etc.tar.bz2 to a local test machine, where I perform = the=20 actual configuration update, and copy the updated etc.tar.bz2 to the remote= =20 firewall, next to the new bootcd.iso. I then create a new grub entry that selects the new (vmlinuz, initrd.gz, bootcd.iso, etc.tar.bz2) set using the handy=20 DL_config and DL_device command-line args. If all goes well, I copy everyth= ing=20 in place and go back to normal. If the upgrade should fail (hasn't happened= =20 yet) I'd need to talk a local guy through hooking up a keyboard/monitor, an= d=20 selecting the old grub entry. =46rank > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Using Tomcat but need to do more?
