I recommend you use 2 USB sticks (or CF cards), one for the OS and one
for the config.  It just makes it a little easier when you come to
upgrade the OS or if you want to copy the config to another machine.

I use 256Mb USB sticks each partitioned with a large and small partiton
so they can be interchanged.  I use a CF card for the hard-drive.  It's
not supposed to be a good idea (card life) but it's been working fine
for me for 18mths or more.
