Hola! Case: (The free) VMware Server 1.0.0, DL 1.2.10 i686/server edition ISO image, blank FAT12 formatted floppy image, 200 MB HD (/dev/sda) on BusLogic virtual SCSI controller for logs etc. I created a VM and booted. I wanted to create a multi NIC router into my VMware environment and started fresh. DL asked wether it should copy the default configuration to the floppy. I replied Yes. It also queried wether it should scan for SCSI devices. I replied Yes again so that DL would find the virtual SCSI adapter. It did find it, as it has always done. DL writes information on the required module into /etc/sysconfig/config file into line INITRD_MODULES= The bug is that the line is INITRD_MODULES="BusLogic and NOT INITRD_MODULES="BusLogic" as it should be. The end quotes are missing. *** As an end note on VMware Server: It recognises the VMware Tools which are in DL 1.2.10, which is great. It claims the Tools are old, but that really does not matter very much. Using too new Tools, has earlier proven to be a bigger/real problem in VMware ESX. vmxnet is not available on newly created VMs, only pcnet32. Well, you cannot get everything for free... //Kari M. |
