Hi Heiko! While setting up a self hosted compile environment for 1.3 I have done the following: * downloaded lfssystem-svn-20040906d-i486-stripped.tar.bz2 * tar -xvjf lfssystem-svn-20040906d-i486-stripped.tar.bz2 * cd lfssystem/data * cvs_sf checkout build * wanted to run "./update_src" but no lftp installed * downloaded lftp-3.0.7.tar.bz2 from the 1.3 sources * uncompressed the lftp sources at /usr/src in the chrooted lfssystem * ran "./configure" and got this error root:/usr/src/lftp-3.0.7# ./configure checking for a BSD-compatible install... /bin/install -c checking whether build environment is sane... yes checking for gawk... gawk checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes checking for gcc... gcc checking for C compiler default output file name... a.out checking whether the C compiler works... yes checking whether we are cross compiling... no checking for suffix of executables... checking for suffix of object files... o checking whether we are using the GNU C compiler... yes checking whether gcc accepts -g... yes checking for gcc option to accept ANSI C... none needed checking for style of include used by make... GNU checking dependency style of gcc... gcc3 checking for g++... g++ checking whether we are using the GNU C++ compiler... yes checking whether g++ accepts -g... yes checking dependency style of g++... gcc3 checking for special C compiler options needed for large files... no checking for _FILE_OFFSET_BITS value needed for large files... 64 checking for _LARGE_FILES value needed for large files... no checking how to link simple c++ programs... using gcc checking if gcc supports -fno-exceptions -fno-rtti... yes checking if -fno-implement-inlines implements virtual functions... yes checking if c++ compiler works... yes checking if c++ compiler can handle dynamic initializers... yes checking whether gcc supports bool type... yes checking whether gcc understands ANSI scoping rules... yes checking for library containing strerror... none required checking how to run the C preprocessor... /lib/cpp configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check See `config.log' for more details. So this probably means I would need to install gcc first. But maybe you could add lftp to the lfssystem so we can get a really self hosted environment. -- MfG / Regards Friedrich Lobenstock |
