the same situation, this is what I learned. At least with the Comcast ser=
vice in MA, you need to have some IP information in the config before dhcpc=
d will send DHCP_REQUEST, otherwise it will be looking for a response with =
DHCP_DISCOVER that the server isn't going to give it. I took the IP from m=
y Windows laptop, which connected with no trouble, and used setup to disabl=
e DHCP in the NET config portion, and gave it the IP and netmask. After it=
connected, I went back in the enabled DHCP again, rebooted, and it connect=
ed fine. =20
My DNS problems were really an incompatible switchbox that wasn't allowing =
the clients to get a useful signal from the router.
