Dear Sirs. I'm using DL 1.2 (2.4 kernel) loaded from USB-drive. The small cron script writes output of procinfo to hard drive mounted to /mnt/ every 5 min. There are base system processes that are running: > root@rsf:~ # ps -A > PID TTY TIME CMD > 1 ? 00:00:04 init > 2 ? 00:00:00 keventd > 3 ? 00:00:00 ksoftirqd_CPU0 > 4 ? 00:00:00 kswapd > 5 ? 00:00:00 bdflush > 6 ? 00:00:00 kupdated > 10 ? 00:00:00 khubd > 16 ? 00:00:00 kcopyd > 38 ? 00:00:00 usb-storage-0 > 39 ? 00:00:00 scsi_eh_0 > 106 ? 00:00:00 loop0 > 147 ? 00:00:00 devfsd > 164 ? 00:00:00 kapmd > 426 ? 00:00:00 syslog-ng > 476 ? 00:00:00 sshd > 520 vc/2 00:00:00 agetty > 521 vc/3 00:00:00 agetty > 522 vc/4 00:00:00 agetty > 523 vc/5 00:00:00 agetty > 524 vc/6 00:00:00 agetty > 525 vc/8 00:00:00 procinfo > 526 vc/7 00:00:00 iptstate > 925 ? 00:00:00 cron > 2200 vc/1 00:00:00 agetty > 4707 ? 00:00:00 sshd > 4709 pts/1 00:00:00 bash > 4818 pts/1 00:00:00 ps But every time procinfo is done I can see decreasing free memory (~ 4k every time). > Memory: Total Used Free Shared Buffers Cached > root@rsf:~ # grep "Mem:" /mnt/live > Mem: 515040 126808 388232 0 19788 72880 > Mem: 515040 126812 388228 0 19788 72884 > Mem: 515040 126816 388224 0 19788 72888 > Mem: 515040 126820 388220 0 19788 72892 > Mem: 515040 126828 388212 0 19788 72900 > Mem: 515040 126832 388208 0 19788 72904 > Mem: 515040 126836 388204 0 19788 72908 > Mem: 515040 126840 388200 0 19788 72912 > Mem: 515040 126848 388192 0 19788 72920 > Mem: 515040 126852 388188 0 19788 72924 Is it memory leak? -- Best regards, Serge mailto:se...@nn... |

'Cached' is increasing, while 'used' is increasing in about the same amount. So this is OK. (Or am I missing something with my hangover....) -- Regards Heiko Zuerker http://www.devil-linux.org |

So this is OK. I'd say the same. May I refer to http://www.aplawrence.com/Bofcusm/2118.html You may want to run 'free' to take a look at the memory usage. Dear Friedrich, Heiko . >> 'Cached' is increasing, while 'used' is increasing in about the same >> amount. So this is OK. FL> I'd say the same. Thank all of you for your answers. I was at vacation and couldn't answer in time. I've looked through the links - thank you. Evidently there is no memory leak. I'm very glad! 8-) Thank you once more! -- Best regards, Serge mailto:se...@nn... |
