The changes in this release are as follows:
Major new features are Active Directory support, Unicode support, a
new authentication system, a new default filename mangling system, a
new "net" command, n negotiation of NT-style status32 codes on the
wire, better Windows 2000/XP/2003 printing support, full support for
client and server SMB signing to ensure compatibility with default
Windows 2003 security settings, improvement of ACL mapping features,
and many other improvements.
The Samba software suite is a collection of programs that implements
the SMB protocol for unix systems, allowing you to serve files and
printers to Windows, NT, OS/2 and DOS clients. This protocol is
sometimes also referred to as the LanManager or Netbios protocol.
