I tried making and booting from a USB flash after the grub update.
The menu works fine, it boots fine, but there is no wallpaper on the
boot menu.  The grub patch for the backdrop/splash/wallpaper needs to be
applied.

Another weird thing is I booted a SMP CPU, on a P4-HT which should show
up as a dual CPU box, but it only had one penguin during boot, and
/proc/cpuinfo only showed one CPU.  Is there a kernel option for
hyperthreading we need to turn on?
