This email is to inform you about the release of version '2.01a12' of 'cdrtools' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/cdrecord/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release fixes some multi-session bugs introduced in 2.01a11. The sector/track mode options were completely reworked to make them really usable. There are new sector/track mode options -xa and - xamix. Mkisofs now allows creation of conforming XA images that includes the sector subheader as used on the Kodak Photo CD. Project description: cdrtools (formerly cdrecord) creates home-burned CDs with a CDR/CDRW recorder. It works as a burn engine for several applications. It supports CD recorders from many different vendors; all SCSI-3/mmc- and ATAPI/mmc-compliant drives should also work. Supported features include IDE/ATAPI, parallel port, and SCSI drives, audio CDs, data CDs, and mixed CDs, full multi-session support, CDRWs (rewritable), TAO, DAO, RAW, and human-readable error messages. cdrtools includes remote SCSI support and can access local or remote CD writers. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. As i said this morning:
# echo 'DEVICE /dev/hd* /dev/sd*' > /etc/mdadm.conf
# mdadm --create /dev/md0 --chunk=64 --level=raid1 --raid-devices=2 /dev/hda1 /dev/hdc1
mdadm: error opening /dev/md0: No such file or directory
root@Devil:/etc # lsmod
Module Size Used by Not tainted
raid1 12652 0 (unused)
md 57472 0 [raid1]
tun 4160 0 (unused)
tulip 40480 1
# ls -la /dev/md0
ls: /dev/md0: No such file or directory
so something is wrong here?
# strace mdadm --create /dev/md0 --chunk=64 --level=raid1 --raid-devices=2 /dev/hda1 /dev/hdc1
brk(0x805d300) = 0x805d300
brk(0x805e000) = 0x805e000
open("/dev/md0", O_RDWR) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
write(2, "mdadm: error opening /dev/md0: N"..., 57mdadm: error opening /dev/md0: No such file or directory
) = 57
semget(1, 1075025664, 0) = -1 ENOSYS (Function not implemented)
_exit(1) = ?
and if i create the /dev/md0 as other faqs suggest:
# mknod /dev/md0 b 9 0
now it's working :)
so we need to create /dev/md0 on every boot... where should we create it? on the /etc/init.d/mdadm ? there is on mdadm :)

In hindsight, I should have kept the source code from my old lfssystem, but in my "starting over" mindset, I did a rm -fr on my lfssystem dir. I'll let you know how it goes ... Thanks, Bruce. |

All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/freeswan/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release added X.509 0.9.27 and 0.9.28 diffs and Aggressive Mode Initiator support. There were also fixes for OE with NAT, 1DES in 56-bit mode, 1DES interoperability with Win2K/XP, and problems with building ALGs on 2.2.x. Nicer debug messages were included. There were also NAT traversal fixes for draft 02_n. Project description: Linux FreeS/WAN provides IPSEC (IP Security, which is both encryption and authentication) kernel extensions and an IKE (Internet Key Exchange, keying and encrypted routing daemon) as well as various rc scripts and documentation. It is known to interoperate with other IPSEC and IKE system already deployed by other vendors such as OpenBSD, Cisco, or CheckPoint. That's your own preference. We (Friedl & I) have the "build" directory within the /data directory. For your own convenience I would move it to /data/build , all later LFSSystems will have the same structure. Everything else working so far? Regards Heiko |

One thing I noticed with both versions of LFS, in /root/.bash_profile of the chroot it has the lines: echo Changing to /data/build cd /data/build and /data/build doesn't exist. Should I change "/data/build" to "/build" ? Thanks, Bruce. |

This email is to inform you about the release of version '0.99.9' of 'Dovecot' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/dovecot/ The changes in this release are as follows: Faster mbox updating, PostgreSQL authentication support, permanently stored UIDs outside index files, and lots of bugfixes. Project description: Dovecot is an IMAP server whose major goals are security and extreme reliability. It uses index files to optimally store the mailbox state, which makes it very fast even with huge mailboxes. Indexes won't prevent external mailbox updates, so Dovecot is still fully compatible with standard Maildir and mbox formats. There's also a fully featured POP3 server included. This email is to inform you about the release of version '2.00' of 'Linux FreeS/WAN' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/freeswan/ The changes in this release are as follows: An empty ipsec.conf now has an implicit conn defined to support Opportunistic Encryption. A cross compilation framework was added, and the program now compiles on the Zaurus. A new program, mailkey, which will format DNS records for OE and draft appropriate mail, was added. Pluto will now accept and process authenticated delete messages. Various code cleanups and documentation fixes were made. It also features Opportunistic Encryption, subnet extrusion, and with the appropriate patches interops nicely with Microsoft Windows XP/2000 using X.509 certificates. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. You'll be presented with a list of projects you're subscribed to in the right column, which you may cancel by highlighting the project in question and clicking the 'delete' button. You only need to execute it, when you updated the source files (executed build/update_src ) or when you want to start a clean build. It's always better to do a "make mrproper unpack" when you updated the sources and the scripts from CVS. The only problem is that a full compile (after "mrproper") takes a couple of hours to finish. -- Regards Heiko We are Penguin, resistance is futile! http://www.devil-linux.org |

Missed that one, thanks! Do I need to run that after every time I update my local copy via CVS? Or a better question is what do I need to run inbetween builds, and if it's different different commands after I update CVS? Thanks, Bruce. |
