CONFIG_LVM2
LVM2 includes all of the support for handling read/write operations on
physical volumes (hard disks, RAID-Systems, magneto optical, etc., multiple
devices (MD), creating volume groups (kind of virtual disks) from one or
more physical volumes and creating one or more logical volumes (kind of
logical partitions) in volume groups.
This is the new LVM for Linux

CONFIG_EXEC_SHIELD
The exec-shield feature provides protection against stack, buffer or
function pointer overflows, and against other types of exploits that rely
on overwriting data structures and/or putting code into those structures.
The patch also makes it harder to pass in and execute the so-called
'shell-code' of exploits. The patch works transparently, ie. no
application recompilation is necessary.
