[Dev-C++] window will not stay open

Hi,

My program has a problem, when I compile and run even the simplest of programs, the text window doesn't
stay open. I have ticked the option in the tools menu but it makes no difference. I have also tried
running the latest ver. of Dev.
I'm running win xp prof. with sp2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
