I've tried to use vUpdate.exe to get the help files. I tried all the different ways discribed in this forum. vUpdate.exe vever starts due to an Error message "A required .DLL file,WS2_32.DLL, was not found".
The file does not exist on my machine. Where can I find this file?
Your help is greatly appreciated

Hmm, the file you mention shows up in my windows and windows/system directories (and a couple of AOL directories), but not in the Dev directory. (Caveat - I am looking at this on a home machine - so its Win98). Its absense does not appear to be the fault of Dev.
Thank you very much for your help, Wayne. Yes, I admit it, my operating system is aincient and also believe Moses might have written the 10 commandments on a WIN 95 machine.
It took a little while to find the required DLL's! After I installed WS2_32DLL, I got the next ERROR for ws2help.dll missing. I also got a copy of it installed in the Windows\system. One strange thing, one of the web sites you found mentioned the registry. When I checked my registry, I found an entry for WS2_32.DLL but under a different key. Vupdate starts OK now, but I get ERRORS from vUpdate. I include a copy of vUpdate debug.log:# v1.604 Tue Nov 26 21:21:14 2002

So, I went to Google, and found some data:

and this:

See if this helps...

That is really weird. That is a standard system file. You must be using something really ancient like windows 95 or something.
Kip
Yeah I noticed a lot of references to Win95 Kip, which may be a result of 95 not coming packaged with IE by default.
Like I said, here on this computer, I am using something nearly as ancient (Win 98SE), and I have the file, and something far more ancient (my brain).
Wayne
He he, you are always too hard on yourself Wayne ;)
