<snip>
I have a student who sent me the following mesage:
I downloaded Dev-C++ from the website you had in the syllabus. I installed version 4.0 and installed the 4.01 patch.
I open the program and entered in my program for my homework. When I click on compile and run, I get the error message in the attachment below.
Can you please help me figure out if something is wrong with my installation of Dev-C++ or if there is another problem. I double-checked my compiler options to be sure it is looking for the correct location for the program files and it also gives me an error message.
</snip>
The error messages are:
"Could not create Code Completion list file"
"Could not create default code file."
I suspect the other one is on not being able to read/modfiy the devcpp.ini (?) file when trying to look at compiler options.
I suspect my student may be using Windows 2000 perhaps as a normal/standard account user (not as a power user/adminstrator). What are the likely source(s) for these error messages and what is the impact of installing on Win2k as a normal user? Thank you for taking your time to read this message and offer your input.
