Saving project without saving files?

Is there any way of saving changes to the project (e.g. adding additional c files), without saving changes to the actual files?

Also, Is there any way of working with read-only files (such as source-controled files), because whenever I try to add them to my project, I get errors: unable to add read-only file.

there should be a seperate menu choice for
"save all" and "save all modifyed".
