Does anyone know if it's legal/illegal to make a commercial game that uses self-made quake 3 maps? So: can I use the file-format in my game(maps are made with gtkradiant) and sell that game in the future?
Greetz,
Ken

the best way to find out is to email them and ask... a company had rather you seek permission than to just do it and have legal troubles later (even if the outcome would be in there favor)...

well you can use opengl for such a thing and of course it is legal.Try nehe.gamedev.net and its tutorials for bsp,ms3d and md2 models.
As far as I know the quake file type can be used commercially with out royalties or anything but it would prolly be best to ask.
