I just thought it would have been cool to see Dev-C++ for linux. Oh well. what was the process before it was canceled? i would have liked to have tryed it.

the first attempt was before the launch of version 5 development. A complete rewrote was attempted on linux. One problem was that i found it a real pain to have Dev-C++ use Qt on Windows (the license of Qt on windows seems non free too), so the portability of Kylix/Delphi was broken. Then i figured out Kylix (version 1) was not stable, and the executables seemed huge and quite strangely unstable. Because there is lots of free C/C++ IDEs on Linux, i decided to stop the development on Linux for now, and focus on a new Windows version, until something more usable than Kylix comes out.

I had heard that there was going to be a port of Dev-C++ to linux. It was supposed to use QT i believe. Is that project off?
i also ment to ask where i could get it from?
Hey,
Yes, that project was off a while ago because there are already a tonne of IDEs for gcc on linux already. =)
