I have sometimes this problem with PackMan: it
installes new devpak without problems but on the last
dialog when I click on the finish button it popups
error messagebox saying that access violation occured,
so I have to close it using Task Manager. It does it
mostly on bigger devpaks (e.g. xerces from devpaks.org)
when runned from WebUpdate.

I have had, what I imagine to be a manifestation of the same
problem.
The error occured when trying to update WxWindows DevPak.
The download and installation processes complete, but after
I click on the 'finish' button, I get a message 'Access
violation at address 0048B2A5 in module packman.exe, read
address of 00CCD484'. I can only shutdown the program by
going into taskmanager, and killing the process. Simply
acknowledging the message will return to the previous
screen, and await my clicking on the 'finish' button again,
which will then raise the same access violation.
I am running W2K with SP4, and have only recently downloaded
Dev-C++ 4.9.9.0.

I wonder if it has to do with 4.9.9.0 as in the past I never
had this problem. vUpdate used to work just great in the
past.

for me it happens for really large packages.

I have experienced the same problem. I downloaded and
installed wxWidgets 2.4.2 from Devpaks.org. After
installation, I could not close the window as clicking on
Finish or the close icon in the title bar gave the error
message "Access violation at address xxxxxxxx in module
'packman.exe'. Read of address xxxxxxxx."
I am using 4.9.9.1, XP with Service Pack 2.

"Access violation at address xxxxxxxx in module
'packman.exe'. Read of address xxxxxxxx." - for debugging
purposes I don't need anything else but the numbers replaced
by xxxx. otherwise reporting such messages is pointless
