    i was under the assumption that WinRT apps require digital signatures.

      It "does" require signing from Microsoft which is actually not that easy, but there is a jailbreak on xda allowing unsigned software, which henke probable already has considering he's asking for DeSmuME on RT.

      the digital signature isn't simply one you can buy from one of the various certification registrants, it requires a microsoft signature which is obtained by submitting the app for certification at a cost.
