save states are not reliable for long term gaming, especially as new versions come and pass.

first off, try opening them from the save state file browser instead of the save slots.

run desmume from a folder on your desktop. running it from any other location takes advanced skills.

it does not load saved games infact it seems to corrupt any save game file for pokemon black 2 / white 2 also ( Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem ) any normal saved game is corrupted and if you have a saved state and try to go back a lvl say to nds emmulator 9.10 it will just crash and give the report saying " your game has crashed is is totally corrupt" or something close to that.

I ask because i would like to play via online / lan with my little brother the multi player games as well as on dolphin but am having major issues ;/

    hope you can help me

When I was playing Animal Crossing:Wild World, I tried to import backups of this game and imported nothing/save type converted file using save file converter so imported and game has reset and i checked the code in txt file and was so simple[1line] which should more than 10 lines. So I decided to give up this game. :<

I can't makea ny sense out of this, but it doesn't sound like it has anything to do with savestates. It sounds like it's mumbling about battery saves and cheats simultaneously.

You screwed them up somehow. Stop using savestates and you wont have problems with savestates. Save in-game and reset

I have Pokémon Silver Soul and my DeSmuME just won't load my last 2 saved games. It's almost like if I had never saved them. I'm bout to cut my wrists (kidding).

That can happen if you load a savestate from earlier. The last save you had made at the time you loaded that savestate becomes the current saved game. Be careful!

Hello! My save states are loading fine, but the ones on my friend's pc stopped working this morning. We haven't updated, entered any new cheats, or modified anything, so we don't know why this is happening. (Pokemon Platinum, if that helps.)

SIDENOTE: I know you aren't ever able to start the game from a .ds ( = the number of the save state) but I've gotten an interesting new error message: "The ROM header is invalid. The device size has been increased to allow for the provided file size"
FOLLOWED BY "Sorry.. right now, you can't use the default (stream rom from disk) with homebrew due to a bug with DLDI-autopatching"

Moving on: We can get the game running through the .nds file, but it no longer has the randomizer data we set it up with: it now runs as vanilla Platinum, even though it has the same file name and even though the text version of said file has all the randomizer data in it.

I assume that this is probably why it no longer recognizes / can run the old save states - but I don't know how to fix it. Any thoughts? I've been experimenting all day but I'm just not that good with computers. I sent copies of everything to the desktop to ease up computer power, like zeromos said earlier in this thread, but it still runs as vanilla Platinum.

If only we'd known save files > save states. We couldn't figure out how to make files load after exiting the emulator, so we assumed states were the way to go. sigh.

It sounds like youre both really confused and youre trying to load a savestate taken on a vanilla pokemon into a randomized pokemon. And/or you're trying to load .ds2 files even though you said you know you can't do that, and/or you have corrupted your roms some other way.

    Yeah, I'm definitely confused lol

It seems like the randomized pokemon can no longer access its .ds2 files. Is there some way I can route the rom back to the savestates? Can I reconnect them somehow?

    Thanks!
(posting twice (as best I can from memory) because it looks like my reply to your most recent comment hasn't gone through?)

I have to approve your comments because theyre anonymous.
I'm pretty sure a changed rom can't support a .ds2 made on an original rom. It's not logical. The .ds2 contains part of the game code stored in the vanilla rom. You can't now give it a randomized rom containing randomized pokemons and randomized code both.

What you need to do is load the .ds2 into the vanilla rom, save in-game, then bring the .dsv to the randomized rom -- IF you ask the internet and they say that it's possibly to load a vanilla save into a randomized rom (It wouldnt surprise me if it was impossible).

In general -- you need to ask the internet. This isn't pokemon cheaters support forum.

Also you should name the randomized rom something different so you dont get confused

    Ah, makes sense.
Sorry to bother you with randomizer questions - I thought it was a DeSmuME not-communicating-with-itself problem, not a individualized-nuzlocke problem.
I shall attack the internet with new search terms. Thanks!

    Can anybody help me?
I was playing Pokemon Soul Silver and had all eight badges. I tried to play it today but when I try to load my save file it says ERROR LOADING SAVE 1. I had also saved in the game. The save file in my actual game was when I had seven. I had loaded the actual save in the game many times but when I tried this time, all my progress was lost and it showed my very old save when I had 2 gym badges.

When you try to load your SAVE STATE it says ERROR LOADING 1 SLOT.

Your savestate is missing and your save file is old.
      Conclusion:
      1. you copied desmume, forgot that you did that, and now youre running the older one
      2. someone else did that and you didnt know
      3. your operating system was restored to an earlier state and the desmume files along with it

      no desmume bug.

about the 3. one is there any possibility to restore the save state and save file to where I was before the operating system restored itself to an earlier state?

no. Most programs do not take measures to actively circumvent windows backup and restore.
