The easiest way to use this project is to download and install via the Windows installer. The program should install into the Windows start menu. Launching the program, the following GUI appears:
By clicking on the "Select File(s)" Button, a file selection box is opened. You can select one or several video files by using the ctrl or shift key. Another way of selecting files is by using drag and drop. This allows notably for selecting files from several directories by using the Windows search function in the Windows explorer.
The selected files may either be either uncompressed video files (AVI,YUV) for encoding, or H.264 files (for decoding). Examples are provided with the program executable in its installation directory (usually c:\Program Files\Definitely Lossless\examples...).
By default, the output files will be written into the same directory as the respective input file. In this case, it would be required to copy these files to a different location to get appropriate file write permissions.
The output files may be written to a different directory than the input files by specifying the output directory field.
After selecting the video files, the processing may be started at any time using the "Start" button. The default settings are optimized for the work of the Video Quality Experts Group (VQEG)
When distributing video sequences, please note that besides the H.264 video files, also the _sha512.txt files created by DEFINITELY LOSSLESS shall be transmitted to allow for the verification of the decoded files.
