+**Welcome to Debox Live CD.**

-Debox GNU/Linux Live CD is a live hybrid* distribution based on Debian and OpenBox as window manager.
-Can be used on computers supporting the 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set architectures.
-Debox was made with the middle and novice user in mind. Includes a wide range of software: word processor, media players, internet browser, email client, disk utilities, java and few games. Also, a plenty of printers, scanners, bluethooth, web cams, digital tv, fax are supported by default.
-Different from the majority of the distributions, the ad hoc Debox desktop environment does not tightly integrate every component but use various programs and tweaks that give the final result.
+Debox GNU/Linux Live CD is a live distribution based on Debian and OpenBox window manager. Can be used on computers supporting 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set.
+Different from the majority of the distributions, the ad hoc Debox Desktop Environment does not tightly integrate every component but use various programs and tweaks that give the final result.

-##### Tips & Highlights
+**Tips & Highlights.**
+-The root (administrator) password is “root”. It's obvious that you must change the root password after you boot your Debox. You can change root's password only if you are logged in as the root user! This can be achieved by typing "su root" at the terminal prompt (RoxTerm for example), then enter the password “root”, type the command passwd and finally enter your new password and repeat it at the confirmation prompt.
+-The default user have the name “user” and as password you must type “user”. To add a new user, type “adduser your_name_here” as root, at the terminal prompt (RoxTerm for example) and follow the instructions.
+-Right click everywhere on desktop to see the menu.
+-With the middle button of your mouse you can move (and place) the icons of your desktop wherever you want. So middle click at the icon, move it and right click to stop.
+-The system default language is English. Every time you must choose your local language. In the case that you want change the localization for a second time, you must login 2 times with the identical localization choice.
+-To change keyboard press alt and shift together. Then watch the flag change at the taskbar. Note that the first keyboard is always English. With the command setxkbmap -layout your_keyboard_here you can switch all the others extra keyboard layouts.
+-Adobe Flash Player, protected DVD, HD-DVD/Blu-Ray will need some extra programs. Please install flashplugin-nonfree, libdvdcss2 and aacskeys from Debox Control Center (the Non_Free_Extras option) or from a Debian repository.
+-At the prompt of CUPS (printer configuration) you must give the user name “root” and the root password (the default is “root”).
+-For watch Digital TV and some bluetooth, wifi devices, is very probable that you will need the firmware for your card. Try to obtain information from internet. Probably the Kernel Messages from Debox Information Center will help you to find the specifics for the right firmware.
+-If you want an eye-candy desktop you can try to enable composite from Debox Control Center. Note that this option may slow your computer but sometimes enable composite (simple-without shadows) offer better graphics.
+-To set new data and time " date --set="STRING" " .For example, set new data to 2 Oct 2006 18:00:00, type the following command as root user: date -s "2 OCT 2006 18:00:00"
+-Debox Live CD is home persistent capable so you can save your data the boot. Try it from Debox Control center.

-The root password is “root”. It's obvious that you must change the root password after you boot your Debox Live Cd. You can change root's password only if you are logged in as the root user! This can be achieved by typing "su root" at the terminal prompt (RoxTerm for example), then enter the password “root”, type the command passwd and finally enter your new password and repeat it at the confirmation prompt.
+**Debox Installation.**
+-First of all, Debox is a live cd. So you must use some tricks to install it at your hard disk.
+-For a O.S independent Hard Disk/USB installation (of the CD as it is) the easy way is to download and install UnetBootin program. On Debox live cd is already installed and just follow the instructions from the web site. At the end of the procedure you will have, in case of Usb stick, a portable Linux system.
+-An other easy way to install Debox (of the CD as it is) on usb stick is with the command "dd bs=4M if=Debox.iso of=/dev/sdX" where "X" is the device address. Note that you must find out the name of your USB drive and make sure that it is NOT mounted. Warning: This will irrevocably destroy all data on /dev/sdx.
+-For Linux users you can try a Hard disk Installation via grub-imageboot. Put your Debox iso files (with suffix.iso) to /boot/images (create it if you need so) and run update-grub2 afterwards. At the next boot you can use Debox Live CD as it is and i must note that this way is slow and only if you have a very fast CPU and a lot of ram worth a try.

-The default user have the name “user” and as password you must type “user”. To add a new user, type “adduser your_name_here” as root, at the terminal prompt (RoxTerm for example) and follow the instructions.
+**Bugs.**
+-Volti systray icon is missing few times from the panel. Some times if your card is not set up as card=0 you will see an empty space but is working! Try to click over and fix the volume. Also some times it helps is you edit the config file (nano ~/.config/volti/config) and disable notifications.
+-Debox is not "UEFI ready" yet. So if you try to boot on UEFI hardware you may find some problems and you must download some software.

-Right click everywhere on desktop to see the menu.
+**What is next...**
+-Debox is improved constantly and you must wait a twelve month major release. Major release number at this time is “2” and minor “0”. The minor release number is used for minor bug fixes (or few updates) and do not have a constant release cycle.
+**
+Last words.**
+-Last but not least, do not forget that your computer must be secured. As a live CD Debox -by default- let the original system untouched but you are advise to turn on a firewall and download the security fixes/programs.

-The system default language is English. Every time you must choose your local language. In the case that you want change the localization for a second time, you must login 2 times with the identical localization choice.
-
-To change keyboard press alt and shift together. Then watch the flag change at the taskbar. Note that the first keyboard is always English. With the command setxkbmap -layout your_keyboard_here you can switch all the others keyboard layouts.
-At the prompt of CUPS (printer configuration) you must give the user name “root” and the root password (the default is “root”).
-
-From the version 1.4 Adobe Flash is optional but you can install it from Debox Control Center (item Non_Free_Extras ).
-
-With the middle button of your mouse you can move (and place) the icons of your desktop wherever you want. So middle click at the icon, move it and right click to stop.
-
-For watch Digital TV and some bluetooth, wifi devices, is very probable that you will need the firmware for your card. Try to obtain information from internet. Probably the “lsusb” command will help you to find the specifics for the right firmware.
-
-If you want an eye-candy desktop you can try to enable composite from Debox Control Center. Note that this option may slow your computer but sometimes enable composite (simple-without shadows) offer better graphics.
-
-*)“hybrid” means -for the end user- that you can simply write he ISO image to a USB drive by using the 'dd' command. Notice, that just copying its content, after mounting it, won't work, as it wouldn't copy the MBR and the partition table, as well as additional sectors at the end of the image. The not-hybrid ISO images needs to use specific USB creation tools like 'Startup Disk Creator' (included by default in some distributions), 'UNetbootin', etc.
-
-##### Data storage
-
-When you turn off your computer -by default- every data will be lost. The only way to maintain your data is to create a partition (or image file) with etx2 file system (if you want to avoid a journaling file system, useful for usb sticks) giving the name “live-rw”.
-
-Debox Live CD is full persistent capable so you can install every program you decide. If during the boot a partition (filesystem) image file or a partition labeled live-rw is discovered, this filesystem will be directly mounted. Usually a 1GB partition is enough to install LibreOffice and Firefox (or Google Chrome) but you must considerate something bigger if you want to create ISO's or install games, virtual machines or a full desktop environment such Gnome or KDE.
-
-If during the boot a partition (filesystem) image file or a partition labeled home-rw is discovered, this filesystem will be directly mounted as /home, thus permitting persistence of files that belong to e.g. the default user. It can be combined with full persistence.
-
-Debox Live CD is also capable to be installed to hard disk and create your custom live CD. Please take some time to look at Blog pages of Debox for details.
-
-##### What is next...
-Debox is improved constantly and you must wait a twelve month major release. Major release number at this time is “1” and minor “6”. The minor release number is used for minor bug fixes (or few updates) and do not have a constant release cycle.

-Debox GNU/Linux is a i386 live distribution based on Debian and OpenBox as exclusive window manager. Tries to offer a new, Debian-based distribution and it is not designed to be over-powerful but to be usable and slim. -•The default user have the name “user” and as password you must type “user”. To add a new user, type “adduser your_name_here” as root, at the terminal prompt (RoxTerm for example) and follow the instructions.

-•When you turn off your computer every data will be lost. The only way to maintain your data is to create a partition with etx2 file system, giving the name “live-rw”. Debox Live CD is full persistent capable so you can install every program you decide.
+If you want an eye-candy desktop you can try to enable composite from Debox Control Center. Note that this option may slow your computer but sometimes enable composite (simple-without shadows) offer better graphics.

+*)“hybrid” means for the end user that you can simply write he ISO image to a USB drive by using the 'dd' command.

-•Last but not least, do not forget that your computer must be secured. Turn on a firewall, download the security fixes/programs and if you aren't a Linux guru, avoid to use Debox for credit card or other sensitive data exchange.
+Data storage

+When you turn off your computer every data will be lost. The only way to maintain your data is to create a partition (or image file) with etx2 file system (if you want to avoid a journaling file system, useful for usb sticks) giving the name “live-rw”.
+
+Debox Live CD is full persistent capable so you can install every program you decide.
+
+If during the boot a partition (filesystem) image file or a partition labeled home-rw is discovered, this filesystem will be directly mounted as /home, thus permitting persistence of files that belong to e.g. the default user. It can be combined with full persistence.
+
+What is next...
+
+Debox is improved constantly and you must wait a twelve month major release. Major release number at this time is “1” and minor “3”. The minor release number is used for minor bug fixes (or few updates) and do not have a constant release cycle.
+
+Last words...
+
+Last but not least, do not forget that your computer must be secured. As a live CD Debox let the original system untouched but you are advise to turn on a firewall and download the security fixes/programs.
