You can lower the interval but you will get in trouble if you use a public server to get your ip (use=web option) because most providers I know will block you. It will work if you get your IP from your router.
Means that, the server is from 14:05-14:07 not reachable because of the old ip address on dyndns.org ??

Yep, that's how ddclient works by default. If your computer connects to the internet itselfs, you can run ddclient directly after a changed IP by attaching it do dhcp or pppd depending on how you connect.
