Udo, > I can't judge on this but plse try the "dirty" way, it's worth a day. Are > there any other applications affected? Sorry, I should have added a sentence or two with background information: MS4W is is a new Apache/PHP/Mapserver distribution which is regularly maintained. The old source(s) for mapserver used by DCMMS, DCCSS and the likes are not maintained as regularly any more. In addition, the package provides a framework to install several applications in the same environment in a transparent way. Thus, I think it is the way to go for future Mapserver/PHP applications on Windows. The current release uses PHP 5 - it's also time for us to switch from PHP 4 to PHP 5 (released 2 years ago) to avoid a bunch of software that is using an outdated and unmaintained programming language. My first attempt to move DCCSS to MS4W looks quite promising. The majority of things seems to work. It's only a pity, that we are missing webtest files for automated testing of the application. Regards, Steffen |

For this reason and for the future compatibility, I would like to make an attempt to shift DCCSS to MS4W - but the quick and dirty way, not trying to restructure the application at the same time (different than the DCMMS approach). If there are problems cooking up that are difficult to solve (> 1 day input), we should stick to the old structure for the time being. I suggest at MS4W branch for this purpose that should also contain the necessary MS4W packaging/configuration files. Any comments/objections? Maher, sorry for the late feedback on the 0.6.0 release. I've added the problems I encountered in the bug tracker. I hope you'll be able to reproduce and fix them. I think it would be good if you would encourage another intensive bug-hunting session together with the users. I also think that an Arabic user guide should be added as soon as possible. Category: None Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Submitted By: Steffen Macke (sdteffen) Assigned to: Maher Abdel Karim (maher_karim) Summary: Don't mark illegal connections in note field Initial Comment: SVN head version of DCCSS. The current reports identify illegal records querying for some Arabic text in the note field. I think this concept should be abandoned as soon as possible. Instead I propose to add a boolean value to the Subscriber class HasIllegalConnection to identify suspected illegal connections. When values from the Note fields make it into main reports, the code should definitely be refactored. Reasons: * The existing code breaks the multi-lingual character of the application. Source code will need adjustments for porting to other languages. * Data entry is faster if this value can be selected instead of being typed * Queries are much more complicated * A simple case like Subscriber.Note="Result of second inspection: There is no illegal connection" cannot be handled Additional measures: The value "HasConnectionBefore" implies "HasIllegalConnection". A quality control query should ensure this (Quality Control Report). The query for illegal connections should only check the field "HasIllegalConnection" to keep things simple and transparent. Eventually "HasConnectionBefore" can be abandoned. Please comment and provide an implementation plan for the necessary changes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=769209&aid=1521599&group_id=147704 |
