the biggest problem these day's with p2p is all the
leechers..
especially on private networks like DC this can get
real annoying..

example:
i spent weeks uploading things to people in my hub
i uploaded over 1TB to various people..
now, after all this time I want to download something..
however, i get thrown into a queue, no slots!
5 days later i'm still waiting for a slot!

solution:
upload credits ala eMule

how?
a local file which keeps track who has uploaded to you
the more someone uploads to you, the more credits they get
if that user ever wants to download anything from you,
the program will check his credits and move him up in
the queue

problem:
many users would have to be using a version of dc with
credits in the same hub, otherwise it would only really
benefit the uploaders, not the people running the
credit-mod!

possible solution:
do a mod check to see if the client supports the credit
mod..
if yes: just use the mod
if no: send the user a warning that his client does not
support the mod and that (s)he is missing out on
something, most users are pretty brainless anyway, a
simple message like this will result in them upgrading
in general..

however, how do you make sure that not every client
send the user a message?? he would be flooded!

i hope this is a possible mod for dc#
lots of info & sourcecode can be found at the emule forums

It wouldn't be fair for the person that has never uploaded
anything to you, but that does not leech....
