I'm trying to do a direct connect with sdelayer (also ArcMAP)
but on my PC I'm getting this error:
ArcSDE 8.2
Layer Administration Utility
-----------------------------------------------------
Error: The supplied path for the SDE home directory is invalid
(-106).
Error: Could not create a connection.
I get the same error on a linux machine, and on a Solaris
machine this happens:
ArcSDE 8.1.2
Layer Administration Utility
-----------------------------------------------------
OPEN: No such file or directory
Warning: Couldn't
open /usr/local/esri/sdeexe812/etc/giomgr.defs file.
Using default values.
Error: ld.so.1: sdelayer: fatal: libclntsh.so.8.0: open failed: No
such file or directory
Error: Operation Failed (-1).
Error: Could not create a connection.
Do you have any idea what I need to do to get direct connect
to work? I'd like to establish this "baseline" in order to
address this question with dbms2dse.
Thanks

libclntsh.so.8.0 - This is an Oracle client library. In
order to use the direct connect driver, you need to have the
Oracle Net 8 client installed on your client.
