Hi Andrea, =20 Thanks for your questions. =20 Your use case for service reuse is interesting. Most of this is possible with the current implementation of the DBE Studio. The DBE Portal is a web based tool and is targeted at the consumers of DBE services. DBE providers and service developers should find the DBE Studio more useful. You can search for services within the Studio by using the Semantic Discovery tool, as John has already mentioned. Here you can use keyword or more advanced query searches. The semantic discovery tool enables you to open BML models and execute services (if a UI exists). Published DBE services can also be listed within the SM Creator tool, which enables to load a particular Service Manifest (SM). Here you can view and edit the details of a particular SM. It is not currently possible to load the code of a service, as some services may have a proprietary implementation. Perhaps a service provider may wish to make their software open source, but this is not currently supported. If you think that this is a useful feature then please log it as a feature request on our SourceForge site. As an alternative, if you would wish to 'use' another service as part of your service, then you could create a wrapper service or even a service composition, and deploy this as your own service. =20 As regards to the problem of importing OWL ontologies, I believe that this bug has been fixed and will be included in the next Studio release. =20 SDL is more a platform independent version of WSDL, similar to the abstract part of WSDL. Perhaps, Soluta can add to this with a more detailed description. =20 =20 Best regards, David. =20 David McKitterick DBE Studio Administrator =20 =20 ________________________________ From: dbe...@li... Subject: Re: [DBEStudio-Devel] questions about DBE Portal and DBE Studio =20 Hi Andrea, regarding how you copy the BML, etc from an existing service to your own service, the way it works now, you just copy it/them!! However I am working on a tool (BML Wizard) that will allow sMEs to explore lots of BML models super fast in order to determine which ones might be relevant to the SME particular model. regarding what is SDL different to WSDL, as far as I know SDL is protocol agnostic (right now we support serialisation of POJOs or "plain old java objects"). WSDL is SOAP specific and very technical. This is more a swallow (ExE) question so perhaps the swallow folks could add their views. Also, WSDL gives you only syntax whereas SDL is designed to work with other parts of the DBE workflow (BML, SSL, SSL2SDL, etc) http://swallow.sourceforge.net <http://swallow.sourceforge.net/>=20 Cheers! /V On 7/7/06, Kennedy, John M <joh...@in...> wrote: Good Morning/afternoon Andrea. Perhaps Victor can give us an update. - As far as I know all of the features that you describe can be achieved with the DBE Studio. The Semantic Discovery perspective can be used to query for services published in the Semantic Registry (check your preferences first). The BML, BML data etc. can be browsed by expanding the results. The=20 Service Design perspective can be used to retrieve an existing Service Manifest once you know the SMID, and from there you can retrieve the BML / BML Data / SDL etc. I understand you can modify it and re-publish as a new=20 Service Manifest. Please note that the existing Service Manifest Creator is being replaced with a completely new Service Manifest Editor within the coming weeks. I am not the best person to answer your other questions - OWL & SDL.=20 As a final note, we are planning to release a version of the DBE Studio within 1 week of the next servent (Swallow) release. As far as I know the next servent release is imminent. Hope this helps, - John. -----Original Message----- From: dbe...@li... Subject: [DBEStudio-Devel] questions about DBE Portal and DBE Studio=20 Good morning, I would ask you some questions about DBE Portal and DBE Studio. In particular, in order to facilitate the creation and deployment of services, suppose I'm a SME who offers some services and i want to publicate a=20 particular service on the DBE. Suppose that i found throught the DBE Portal a service very similar to mine: is it possible to retrieve (from the DBE Portal) the models (BML, SSL, SDL, ...) and the code of the service, for=20 re-instantiate it with the information (data) about my service and my business? Regard the DBE Studio, I'm not able to import new OWL-DL ontologies with the import tool of ontology. How does this tool work?=20 Finally, what does SDL add to WSDL? Thanks in advance.
