I just posted this on the bug tracker:

This is similar to "1541072" (DBAN 1.0.7 broken with SATA / Intel 875 Chipset)

I have a Dell Inspiron XPS Gen2 with a Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/PM PCI Express chipset and a 80 gig TOSHIBA MK8026GAX hard drive

using the the iso version of dban 1.0.7/1.0.6

DBAN loads correctly but the wipe barely progresses.  The throughput continues to drop as the wipe continues... with an 80 gig TOSHIBA MK8026GAX hard drive, it dropped to 2200 kb/s after 30 mins and had progressed only 1.25%.

Never had any problems with 1.0.6.  The system activity light on the xps did not come on at all when doing a wipe with 1.0.7...  it was on immediately with 1.0.6 during a wipe.

I didn't get any errors, but I quit manually after 1.5 hours and only 1.75% was done... went back to 1.0.6 with no problems.

Did the intel chipsets get dropped/corrupted from this release or is it another problem?

Has anybody else had a similar problem with 1.0.7, but no problems with previous versions?

People with Intel 915 performance problems should add comments and hardware details to ticket 1550255.
