It has been going for 18 hours and its only at 10.86% and only on pass 1. Is this normal or is there something wrong? This will take 7 days. I have used d-ban before on another built computer and it would usually take 3-4 hours on a 200 gig ide drive.

I see that the problem I am having is not just me. It is taking forever. How can I exit DBAN and restart with Beta or at least try "Autonuke". I have an 80 gig laptop Vista based. Its been "working" for 9 hours and is less than 9% done. Help. Extremely frustrating.

well...until now, I only used DBAN on "old" systems (< Pentium III) with HD's of ~40GB capacity. Yes, it took
several hours to get it done and it was frustrating. Maybe I should mention that I used the PRNG-Stream, which I consider not to be the fastest method...?
The first times I used this tool, I wanted to stop the program too, also looking for "the magic button". Since there was no data on the HD that could be corrupted, I thought...I just turned of my PC. Never had problems on that, nevertheless I would not suggest this... ;-)
I my case, after 6-8 hours DBAN was finished, so I usually did not have to kill the process that way.
I can't help you on your speed problem, but I would say that it is really slow!!

Try the beta. Provide hardware information, model and manufacturer, for a better answer.
