Well, with 8 hours left before I head off to the not-so-windy-currently city of Chicago, I decided to use my dwindling time on the computer. And wanting to put something big in before I head off, I've decided to port this to Perl, and time permitting, Python. I think we can benefit from releasing seperate versions of each langauge right now, because they're all at different stages of progress. Later on we'll merge them into one package. Whenever we reach a stable release, we'll wait for the other languages to reach that level before releasing.
Anyway, while I'm in Chicago, I'm going to write the outline of the paper on the project. Basically, I'm going to explain:
-why databases are used
-databases' pro's/con's (including load)
-what xml is
-xml's pro's/con's (parsing speed)
-how merging these technologies can greatly improve performace (caching, etc.)
Well, see you Monday :-p
