The goal of the DAVIM project is to design an distributed IM system that uses WebDAV-enabled Apache as its server.
The advantage of this set-up is obvious. Apache is widely deployed, not just on the Internet but on many corporate Intranets. It's trusted. It's reliable. It can handle large number of hits. Using HTTP also means compatibility with all firewalls.
The project is current in its brain-storming stage. Discussion and suggestion is very much needed. Anyone interested is welcomed to join, even if you don't plan to do any coding.
