    Hi.

Trying to install davfs2-0.2.7 on Linux Fedora 2.

When configure, I get this error message:
    -------------------------------------------------
    []# ./configure
    ...
    checking for neon-config... none
configure: no external neon library found
configure: error: could not find neon
    -------------------------------------------------

    But I think it's installed:
    -------------------------------------------------
    []# ll /usr/lib/libneon*.*
    lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root     17 Dec 17  2004 /usr/lib/libneon.so.24 -> libneon.so.24.0.7
    -rwxr-xr-x  1 root root 109820 Jul 20  2004 /usr/lib/libneon.so.24.0.7
    -------------------------------------------------

    and:
    --------------------------------------------------------
    []# yum install neon
    ...
neon is installed and is the latest version.
    No actions to take
    -----------------------------------------------------

    I tried with:
    -------------------------------------------------
    []# ./configure -with-neon=/usr/lib
    ...
checking for neon library in /usr/lib... not found
configure: error: could not use external neon library
    -------------------------------------------------

What am I doing wrong? Thank you very much.

Try 'neon-config --version' to version information. Maybe the program 'neon-config' is not installed, but the configure script needs it?
Please send all of the output of ./configure.

It may be the core of my problem. I cann't find neon-config.

      []# neon-config
      bash: neon-config: command not found
      []# whereis neon
      neon:

But I've got neon installed according to 'yum' and neon libs are within '/usr/lib' (in fact, I'm using Subversion correctly).

      Any tip?

Probably there is a second neon package for develeopers. I am not familiar with Fedora, but Debian usually splits libraries in two packages:
      - one package contains the library you need to *run* programs that use this library.
      - one package (-dev) you need, if you want to compile and link pragrams against this library.

davfs2 uses a macro (macros/neon.m4) from the neon peaple to test for the existance of the neon library. I asume this needs those parts that are in the developer package.

If you can't find a second neon package in fedora, you might try one of our binary packages.

      Greetings
      Werner
