Data persistence when offline

Data persistence in offline condition is achieved by sending via e-mail the HTML file to yourself and viewing the message from your iPhone/iPod touch. The e-mail and the attachment will then be saved locally and will be available in any condition.

dataoniphone version 0.9.0 is released

First release of dataoniphone, which is a Perl program that reads data from a file named table.txt and creates table.html, which is ready to be served by a web server to an iPhone or iPod Touch.

This solution allows a good fit of the rows of a table on the screen of the iPhone or iPod Touch. Rows are in fact splitted, to avoid the need of excessive horizontal scrolling while the beginning of a new row is marked by an horizontal ruler. When seen with the Safari browser of the iPhone the page can be enlarged touching the screen with the usual two fingers divarication movement.

The data source file table.txt has a record for each row and the field (column) separator is the tab. Data may come from a data base or from a spreadsheet and dataoniphone was tested with quite large tables.
