DataCrow Feature List

This page lists the features that needs to be added to Future DataCrow releases. Current DataCrow ( DC ) stable version is 3.8.16. DC 4.0 is expected very soon. 'Robert-Jan van der Waals' had hinted that DC 4.0 will be a major release with lot of new functionality with improved performance.

Here we strive to maintain the most upto-date wanted feature's list that all of us like to see in the next version of DC. People can post in customizations and mods here in the comments section.Once checked and confirmed working, they can be moved to a different page.

Book Module Features

• Request #: 3096726 Request #:2948318Request #:2871310 Support for formats EPUB,DJVU,RTF,BibTeXML (EPUB seems to the format of choice for the future)

• Do not build Book List tree each time DB.(It takes considerable time if you have a list like 10000 ebooks in your collection)
  (RJW - This is fixed in the 3.9.0 beta version, however, I am not entirely sure)

• Fetching social tags from Amazon

• Request #:3099183 Fetching metadata fromISBNDB.

• Request #:3099183 Fetching metadata from Google Books.

• Request #: 3099152 Category field be MULTIPLE select by default.(More often a book can be classified with two tags and this should be possible by default. Currently a custom category has to be created to achieve this)
  WorkAround : (RJW - For now you can use the alter module wizard to change the type of the field 'Category'. I will make sure this makes it into Data Crow 4 as well)

• Request #:3096445 Ability to Move Up/Down 'Selected Fields'. Implemented in 3.9 BETA III

• Request #:3027711 Show books in mulitple formats as one media item.
  (RJW - This is quite a big change to Data Crow. I am still thinking about this one. It might make it in a different way, for example, to allow users to link items to each other)

• Request #:3096708 Charting feature for book module not working properly. Implemented in 3.9 BETA III

• Request #: 3098566 Show book cover in the same window as 'Quick Item View'. Implemented in 3.9 BETA III

Movie Module Features

• Request #:2892964 Support for Online Services like Rotten Tomatoes.

• Limit the number of actors imported from IMDB for a movie

• Request #: 3102099 Support for MKV Video . Workaround : You need to add the file extension to the file import dialog (file types option in the menu of the file importer)

Music Module Feature

• Request #:2923819 Support for MP3

Datacrow Tool Features

• Request #: 3100172 "Drive Manager->File Synchronizer" keeps changing focus. (It should be non-intrusive and run in the background). Implemented in 3.9 BETA III

• Request #:3099231 Backup Comment Retrieval.
  (This is already part of Data Crow 3.8.16. The comment is shown when you browse for the file, in the backup select dialog) Implemented in 3.8.16

• Request #: 3102703 Proxy support for the internet server. Implemented/Can notice in 3.9 BETA III

• Request #: 2925643 Scan Disk/Folder for media entries & Report for probable Items to be imported in DC.
