This is surely possible. Any height matrix that you can create
with the ESOM tools can be saved as a *.umx file. The file
extension is a little misleading, but in the beginning there
was only the U-Matrix. With the command line tools you could
save the P-Matrix with

esomrnd -l trainingData.lrn -w trainedESOM.wts -B pmx -u pHeights.umx
