I've just posted ASCII Manipulator 2.1.0. This version has a second window for selecting files to convert. The second window is actually a File Chooser dialog without the Open and cancel buttons. It also can't be dismissed. Also a bug was fixed where in windows it couldn't replace data in the same file. Originally there was a reported problem with ASCII Manipulator removing carriage returns. But I think the problem was that it when 'Replace old file' was choosen it couldn't write to the file. Could someone let me know if this problem is resolved by responding in this list. Thanks. ---------------------- Clayburn W. Juniel, III __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! I've broken the releases into smaller pieces. API, connection-list, Derby Server Commands, Documentation, Full Program, Mac OS X Package installer, Main jar file, MySQL Server Commands, Program Launchers and Source. ---------------------- Clayburn W. I've just released Data Maniuplator version 1.4.2a. Version 1.4.2a is a beta version. Removing Validate ValidateSQLRow.java. Replaced by function in TableFrametableModel.java Changed the menu key accelerators from ActionEvent.CTRL_MASK to toolkit.getMenuShortcutKeyMask(). Now different platforms will get the correct key modifier when using the keyboard to access a menu item. Fixed bug in DatabaseConnection.java where NoClassDefFoundError needed to be caught and ignored in loop to look for ServerCommands plug-ins. Now the connection dialog response properly when you you press the OK button. Fixed GrantRevoke.java to properly handle added privileges. The Grant and Revoke dialog now behaves properly when you add or adjust a privilege. Fixed start up of program so preferences are set to something even if SQL access error occurs. Preferences are set from the logged in user's system table. All default values are now set before any attempt is made to access the user's system table eliminating any future errors from missing data. ---------------------- Clayburn W. I use Mac OS X 10.3.9. If you go to the web site there is a link to the manual. I've just looked at that it doesn't seem clear what is needed on someones system to run Data Manipulator. I'll rewrite that and let you know when I posted it. What is needed is: Java 2 v1.4. with the SDK. A SQL database. A JDBC driver The download from Sourceforge.net is tar and then gzip so it needs to be un gunziped and then untarred. When you do that you should get a directory containing the directories Docs, images, plug-ins and files connection-list, dataManipulator.jar, dataManipulatorLight.jar, Start.jar, and startLight.jar. On both Windows and Mac OS X I believe you can double-click dataManipulator.jar to launch the program. You can also launch it from a command line with java -jar dataManipulator.jar It's pure Java and should work exactly the same on all operating systems. The windowing enviroment will make some of the windows look a little different. I hope this answers your questions. Please let me know if something is still unclear. clay P.S. I've added you to two mailing list: dat...@li... and dat...@li.... I think it would be a good Idea to communicate through these two mailing list. That way once we aquire beta testers and other developers everyone can see what is going on. ---------------------- Clayburn W. My original idea was to let the fields flow together and let the user input the delimiters around 'Server', 'Host', Fail Over Host', and 'Port'. Thanks for pointing out that that was a bad idea. I've written the code so that IT places the delimiters when the fields are concatenated. When I was checking out your problem I had a hard time remembering what delimiters went where. > > I did not see where the program finds the mysql/bin > programs if they are > not in the path - or why they would not be in the > path since all that > stuff is in my path from a terminal? You didn't tell me which version of 'Data Manipulator' you were using. In the lastes on posted at http://database-viewer.sourceforge.net/ under the file menu you can set that directory my using the 'Set Tools Directory'. I will automatically save that information for the user in the next release. > it should be able to export sql queries to comma > separated values (CSV), > as this would be immensely helpful while not > terribly difficult to do. I will add that to the next release. But I think it should be semi-colon, carriage-return separated. If you think I should do both tell me. > please add ToolTipText over the Connect screen > fields or labels if > anything would help, such as the default port > assignment (if known) for > the database type. I don't have ready access to MS Access or SQL Server. If you know of someone who wants to join the project on sourceforge.net and work on that let me know. > thanks, > > David > > I would like it if you could join sourceforge.net. That way all bug reports could go through the bug report mailing list I have. Thanks. And thanks for reporting the bug and suggestions. It is well appreciated. ---------------------- Clayburn W. Hello, I have an Oracle database that I would like to test against. I get the error "could not find the driver" though I have the driver in a jar that I have placed in a lib directory which I created under the project root. I have tried adding to the System Properties "classpath=/lib/Oracle.jar" with no luck. Could you tell me the suggested way to point to the driver? Thanks Omar |
