Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_de.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Initial Comment: I was thinking when I saw this, about how long it would take to startup and shutdown the computer. Wouldnt it be easier to just use this hibernate plugin to be able to start/stop the computer in about 5 secs? When the radio is loaded, it just reads that file and immediately tunes to that station. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=438073&aid=565564&group_id=43989 |

This would not need to be something fancy to start out with (no title need be displayed unless network connectivity is detected (probe on start up not on each cd insert)). I found that if the machine is rebooted (not turned off then restarted) than the radio starts playing as soon as the bttv module is inserted into the kernel on bootup. It resumes at the same frequency and volume that it was using before reboot. this may be considered a bug or a feature. May be annoying if you had the radio loud and rebooted with no opportunity to turn down the volume until after the reboot is complete and the gui is up ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=438070&aid=565121&group_id=43989 |

Similar to the star button, but one that would return the main menu _and_ turn off the radio. I think a) is definately the best solution. Initial Comment: Could we add functionality that will return the dashpc to it last known state? It would be great to have the dpc code startup into it's last state (audio included). Many people (myself included) have a standard audio position (cd for some, radio for others). As such, they would benefit from a return to the last known active module (or most likely audio output module). An item to note is that due to ext3, many people just turn off their pc's without proper shutdown or exit. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=438073&aid=565049&group_id=43989 |

Whoops sent it without finishing it :-) hmm most be a quirk about the Slackware install of AutoConf/Automake. Well in any case, there is a way to run aclocal with additional directories in the ".m4" search path, if you run: aclocal -I/path/to/files if will include /path/to/files in the search path.. You should be able to do this as many times as needed. Maybe it would be a good idea to include the "non-standard" m4 files in a m4 directory under the build directory, that way they don't need to be found... Something I'll have to think about.. - Mike On Mon, 2002-04-29 at 15:48, Todd E.
