#2 USB-Modem checkbox dimmed

I installed the ZyXEL OmniNetDriver for LCD Plus ISDN Modem for
OS X.
In System Preferences > Network the USB Modem indeed occurs,
but it is dimmed. No matter restarting with or without the modem
connected.
Anny suggestions, to cure this problem?
