It was a difficult year, but thanks to amazing people like you, we were able to provide monthly food parcels to an incredible number of the elderly and families with children. Helping SA’s Hope Project 2024
Because their parents are in such financial straits, hundreds of children are showing up to school weary, undernourished, and in horrible clothing. Starving students snatching food from their peers while wearing threadbare clothing and worn-out shoes may sound like a scenario from a horror movie, but this is a fact and is still a sad reality in the twenty-first century. There is a rise in the number of students who arrive at school without eating breakfast or the night before.
Some youngsters are so hungry that they have to take food from other individuals. Some children even steal more food and store it for their siblings at home.
None of this is the fault of the parents because they lack parenting skills or are bad planners since they have no budget to fall back on in the first place and receive so little that it is a daily battle for them to maintain a roof over their children's heads as living expenses rise and jobs are often lost.
Even though these kids already endure a lot, they are ridiculed and taunted at school for wearing the wrong uniform and without the appropriate necessities. Please assist us in changing the course of a child's school year. The families and children we help are spread across South Africa.
We provide them lunch if they don't have one or have a small one, but we have no idea what they will eat for dinner. What occurs over the holidays, then? For this reason, Helping SA will provide these kids and their families with food parcels, furniture, clothes, and whatever else they may require. We will also help find the parents jobs.
We provide weekly or monthly food parcels to families with children because it is difficult for kids to stay optimistic about the future when they don't even know when and where they will get their next meal. The cost of each family's food parcel, which consists only of the bare essentials is approximately R2200 per month, that is why we rely on the public for donations so that we can be able to do this.
We need to re-engage the children's passion for learning, but that will not happen if they show up to class with empty stomachs, no stationary, a shopping bag used as their schoolbag, and mismatched and torn clothing.
The younger the heart the bigger the hope and unfortunately the promise of dreams and a better future crumble right in front of their eyes, with each passing day of having to go to bed with an empty tummy.
We have found a high rise of child-run homes where the oldest sibling is trying to provide for all their younger siblings as there is no parents in the picture, some children had to flunk out of grade 10 and 12 to try and find employment to provide for the young in the house hold, many were excellent students with a great future ahead of them, career wise and all that is lost in so many households.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The fundraising will be done by asking for a R100 donation, in return, you will receive a Hope Ribbon and an invoice to claim back from tax.

HSA Winter Care Project Many children have to go through this winter with blankets that are torn and have holes in them. They have to share one blanket with their siblings. Some have no blanket at all and have to rely on a plastic bag or box to cover themselves. For these families, it’s difficult just to have bread to eat, not to mention being able to take a few rands and get a blanket. We have situations where children get into fights with their brothers or sisters over a jersey. The elderly suffer just as much. We have the elderly staying in garages, shacks, and back rooms with raw cement floors, holes in the walls, and broken windows. These are elderly people that the state feel do not qualify for a pension grant. They are also unable to find employment due to their age and illnesses. The number of deaths rises in the winter months as the cold makes it difficult to fight off viruses and illnesses. The one thing we seldom hear about is the number of deaths of the elderly during the winter months. They have been forgotten by their children, who live on their own in cold back rooms and garages, and most have illnesses such as arthritis, which is already very painful and gets worse with the cold. They will roll up into balls and just try and keep warm, often not being able to get up and find something to eat, most not having a proper meal to start with, resulting in them getting weaker and weaker. Winter is a beautiful season but a dreadful one for all destitute families, children, and the elderly. It’s the longest month of your existence if you have no warm clothes, no warm bedding, live in a room with raw cement floors, and holes in your roof, and still have to fight off the hunger that overcomes you. Where can they find the strength that they need to overcome all of this? We need to be that change. We can give them strength. We can lift them up by providing blankets, warm clothing, and warm food. Please help us to make this difference in the lives of those who are suffering so much already. The children, families, and elderly that we assist are located across South Africa. There are so many that need assistance that we have to start this drive as soon as possible and not wait for when the coldest days are upon us. It works out to +/- R1800 per month per family for their food parcel. This includes healthy, balanced meals. It costs around R 800-R1200 for a family of three to get blankets and at least two jerseys and pants. The fundraising will be done by asking for a R100 donation towards our Hope for Warm project. You can do a bank transfer to help us save on expenses so we can help many more. There is a rise in the number of students who arrive at school without eating breakfast or the night before. Some youngsters are so hungry that they have to take food from other individuals. Some children even steal more food and store it for their siblings. None of this is the fault of the parents because they lack parenting skills or are bad planners since they have no budget to fall back on and receive so little that it is a daily battle for them to maintain a roof over their children's heads as living expenses rise and jobs are often lost. Even though these kids already endure a lot, they are ridiculed and taunted at school for wearing the wrong uniform and without the appropriate necessities. Please assist us in changing the course of a child's school year. The families and kids we help are spread all over South Africa. We provide them lunch if they don't have one or have a small one, but we have no idea what they will eat for dinner. What occurs over the holidays, then? For this reason, Helping SA will provide these kids and their families with food parcels, furniture, clothes, and whatever else they may require. We will also help find the parents jobs. We provide weekly or monthly food parcels to families with children because it is difficult for kids to stay optimistic about the future when they don't even know when and where they will get their next meal. The cost of each family's food parcel is approximately R2200 per month, so we rely on donations from the public to be able to provide this service. We need to re-engage the children's passion for learning, but that will not happen if they show up to class with empty stomachs, no stationary, a shopping bag used as their bag, and improper clothing. Helping SA - Christmas drive for needy children and forgotten elderly we have 8 Weeks left! We will have different closed parties for destitute children out of different areas and communities, following proper COVID-19 requirements, also for the elderly and mentally disabled adults who have suffered dramatically through this year. Our aim is to give them a special day where they will have fun, feel loved and get spoiled with treats and gifts, one of the drive's goal is collecting Christmas presents and food parcels for children from destitute families for Christmas day where the parents will give it to them so that the family together can have Christmas, our aim is to make children happy but not to take that joy away from their parents and a family day, the families will have a proper meal on Christmas day. The main aim of this drive is to provide the families and elderly with more food parcels during this time. As the Children relied on the meal they received at school, they will not be receiving this meal during the school break so we need to ensure that we can replace that meal, Christmas gifts and parties is a sensitive subject never-mind walking around in the streets during the festive season trying to find something to eat for them and their younger siblings. We will not allow the current situations in the world to become an excuse not to show love to the needy, we will show more love and care! There's nothing sadder in this world than to awake Christmas morning and know Santa did not visit you once again and the feast to look forward to will be the same as always, bread or nothing at all Christmas... Is not an eternal event at all, but a piece of a child's memory, they will always carry in their heart. Again like last year we asked the children for their Christmas wishes, this is some of their answers: * “I want to see my mommy smile again”, * “Enough bread for my family” * “shoes for me and my brother”. HSA Winter Project
Many children have to go through this winter with blankets that’s torn and has holes in it they have to share 1 blanket with their siblings, some has no blanket at all and has to rely on a plastic bag or box to cover themselves.
For these families it’s a difficulty just to have bread to eat, not to mention to be able to take a few rand and get a blanket, we have situations where children gets in to fights with their brothers or sisters over a jersey, the elderly suffers just as much we have elderly staying in garages, shacks back rooms with raw cement floors, holes in the walls, broken windows, this is elderly that the state feels do not qualify for a pension grant, they also cannot find employment due to their age and illnesses.
In a lot of elderly care centers the number of death rises in the winter time as the cold makes it difficult to fight against viruses and already illnesses, the one thing we seldom hear about is the number of deaths of elderly during winter time, who has been forgotten by their children, who lives on their own in this cold back rooms and garages, who mostly suffers because they do not have warm clothing and bedding most have illnesses such as arthritis, which is already very painful and gets worse with the cold, they will roll up in balls and just try and keep warm ending up not to be able to get up and find something to eat, most not having a proper meal to start with resulting in them getting weaker and weaker.
Winter is a beautiful season but a dreadful one for all destitute families, children and elderly, it’s the longest months of your existence if you have no warm clothes, no warm bedding, live in a room with raw cement floors, holes in your roof and still on top of this you have to fight off the hunger that overcomes you, where can they find the strength that they need to overcome all of this?
We need to be the change, we can give them the strength we can lift them up by providing blankets, warm clothing and warm food, please help us to make this difference in the lives of the ones who suffers so much already.
The children, families and elderly that we assist is located across South Africa, there is so many that need assistance that we have start this drive as soon as possible and not wait for when the coldest days is upon us.
It works out to +/- R1800 per month per family for their food parcel this includes healthy balanced meals.
It average R 800- R1200 for a family of 3 for blankets and at least 2 jerseys and pants for each
The fundraising will be done by asking for a R 100 donation towards our hope for warmth project you can do a bank transfer to help us save on expenses so we can help many more in return you will receive a tax (Section 18A) invoice to claim back from tax and a Helping Sa Warmth Hope ribbon that we hope you will wear with pride knowing what a difference you have made.
Examples of what your R 100 donation WILL do:
Feed a child / elderly for 3 days /
1 pair of warm shoes and socks
1 Winter pants / 1 Jersey
1 Jacket
Warm bedding/ Blankets
1 Child will be able to take the bus to school for a week and no need to walk over 6 km
You can give hope where there is none!!

Helping SA - Christmas drive for needy children and forgotten elderly
we have 7 Weeks left!
We will have different closed parties for destitute children out of different areas and communities, following proper COVID-19 requirements and stipulations, also for the elderly and mentally disabled adults who has suffered dramatically through this year, our aim is to give them a special day where they will have fun feel loved and get spoiled with treats and gifts, this drive's main aim is collecting Christmas presents and food parcels for children from destitute families for Christmas day where the parents will give it to them so that the family together can have Christmas, our aim is to make children happy but not to take that joy away from their parents and a family day, the families will have a proper meal on Christmas day, we will also be providing the families and elderly with more food parcels during this time. We will not allow the current situations to become an excuse not to show love to the needy, we will show more love and care!
There's nothing sadder in this world than to awake Christmas morning and knowing Santa did not visit you once again and the feast to look forward to, will be the same as always, bread or nothing at all
Christmas... Is not an eternal event at all, but a piece of a child's memory, they will always carry in their heart. Again like last year we asked the children for their Christmas wishes, this is some of their answers:
* “I want to see my mommy smile again”,
* “Enough bread for my family”
* “shoes for me and my brother”.
The fundraising will be done by asking for a R100 donation, in return you will receive a beautiful Helping SA’s Christmas Supporters Key ring (symbolic of the light you shined on to others by assisting with this drive), and an invoice to claim back from tax please also view our site to see our previous Christmas drives please help us to make this one a memorable one for all.
Last year we were able to fill most of the children's Christmas wishes, please help us to fill the wishes again this year, the gift and Christmas meal you are sponsoring will be the only gift they will receive this year.
These children have already missed the chance this year to receive a cake or a gift on their birthday let's not make them miss out on Christmas as well, we can make it possible to give them smiles again.
YOU CAN MAKE THIS A CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER. As all of us are starting to make plans for the festive season that is upon us to spend time with our families, these children have nothing to look forward to, not a Christmas meal or present and they will have little or even no food during the festive season, most relied on the lunch they received at school, but without our assistance during the school holidays will not receive much to eat if any, but with your assistance we can change this and give them something to look forward to. There is so many children when they go to bed hungry that ask themselves " why me what have I done", it is difficult for children to keep their faith strong and to keep on trying.
We have the power to change this by showing them a little bit of love and understanding, there is a candle burning in every soul and we need to keep that candle burning.
Because we procure in bulk we are able to assist more with less;
R50 – 2 Children / Elderly have food for 1 day
R 100 – 2 Children / Elderly have food for 2 days
R 500 – 2 Children / Elderly have food for 10 days
R 1000 – 2 Children / Elderly have food for 20 days
R5000 – 2 Children / Elderly have food for 3 months
R10’000 – 2 Children / Elderly have food for 6 Months (186 days)
