Hello, I've recently discovered Dalesa and am interested in porting it to OS X. While I am not a developer, I do know how to compile software (most of the time) but can't wrap my head around CMake. I'm only interested in compiling the command line tool rather than the whole GUI (for obvious reasons). Has anyone had any success in doing this? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! Brody |

Hi Aman, You have to change browser proxy settings to address 127.0.0.1 and port 8080. For Dalesa nodes to communicate you should disable XP firewall or add an exception to it. On wireshark filter 239.0.10.1 and UDP port 4080. If you are comfortable with coding use something like Rational purify to locate the problem. Unfortunately at LSF we do not have tools to debug on windows platform. Thanks for the feed back. Do I need to change the proxy settings on the browser or just leave it as is? It seems like the crashing problem only happens if i change the proxy setting to 127.0.0.1 8080. I am using the current version 1.2.0. From the directions on dalesa website, it seemed like we had to change the proxy setting in the browser. **The Crashes very time to time. Sometimes it happens when people are just doing the normal browsing of facebook. Hi, Please let me know the version of Dalesa you are using. You do not have to change the IP manually if you are using version 1.2.0. To enable P2P functionality click Configure -> Settings and then select the network interface (LAN/WLAN interface depending on your configuration). You do not have to restart windows XP when Dalesa crashes. Instead click Configure -> Start to start Dalesa again. If this does not work goto windows service manager and start dalesa service manually. Please let us know the URL you were loading when it crashed. (Also Dalesa crashes due to a memory corruption within the embedded mysql library. I will try to fix it but I can't guarantee that this will be fixed any sooner) Regards On Thu, Jun 23, 2011 at 6:08 AM, Aman Kishore <ama...@gm...> wrote: > I have a question > After installing the software on windows, do we change the Proxy setting to > 127.0.0.1 > Or Dalesa does everything on its own. I have a question After installing the software on windows, do we change the Proxy setting to 127.0.0.1 Or Dalesa does everything on its own. The one thing I have noticed is the crashes. I do want to help but am not a programmer. How can i let you guys know about the crashes. Sometimes starting up the application doesnt help, so i have to reboot the computer. Any advice would be great. The crashes happen while we are browsing the web. thanks aman |

Hi, Dalesa now works on Linux x64 (64bit) and a Segfault caused by incorrect handling of libmysqld has also been fixed. You can also use embedded MariaDB instead of embedded MySQL without any change to the code. Please get the code from SVN. Hi, It looks like the service is not running and that's typical since you have installed from sources. Click on Configure -> start it will start Dalesa cache. Once you have done that you can configure Dalesa. Click Configure -> settings a dialog will appear. Now select the interface you will be using to communicate with peers and type something in the "User:" text box (anything). Leave rest of the fields intact (default language will be English) and click OK. Now open your web prower and set proxy to IP 127.0.0.1 and port is 8080 (use this proxy for https and ftp). That's all and you are good to go. The UI will get updated every 15 seconds as you browse the web. You will need several other computers installed with Dalesa in your LAN to experience P2P caching (you will only see pink and green lines when Dalesa on your computer communicates with it's peers). Please give some feedback on your experience as we have not tested it on 64bit systems yet. Hi, This is a bit of strange. We have compiled it on Ubuntu 10.04 and never saw this problem. Are you running this on a 64 bit kernel? (Actually we have not tested it on 64 bit versions of any OS). Is the source taken from SVN trunk? if not which release is? It's good if we you can post and share a screenshot of it. Hi Neha, According the error it is a permission issue. Most probably you have tried installing it as a regular user. You need super user access to install. Use the command sudo make install to install. Recommended way of building and installing is ./autogen.sh ./configure --prefix=/usr make sudo make install Regards On Wed, Dec 8, 2010 at 9:08 AM, Neha <ndo...@gm...> wrote: > Thank you for the reply.I could configure somehow, but still could not > install.I get this error while make install http://pastebin.com/Qirt592x > > Regards > > > On Tue, Dec 7, 2010 at 11:31 PM, Wathsala Vithanage <wvi...@gm...>wrote: > >> Hi Neha, >> >> You need libgconf2-dev to get rid of this error. Hi, Dalesa-1.2.0 release branch is now available. Tarballs, and packages are available on the website http://www.dalesa.lk. Given below are the major features in this release of Dalesa. 1. Win32 of Dalesa cache (Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7). 2. WinDalesa. A user interface written in C# to interact with windows version of Dalesa cache. 3. Dalesa cache now listens on two separate sockets. Loopback interface is used for internal user and any other user specified network interface for communicating with peers. 4. Dalesa cache on windows runs as a Win32 service. 5. Dalesa cache on Linux runs as a daemon process via init.d. Hope you will enjoy this release of Dalesa. Regards. |
