The MP3 version struggles with non-breaking space (NBS) characters.
o Because the module in question has all it's study materials delivered online as well as in print we had to use a fair number of NBSs in order to make sure things like 'Block 3', 'TMA 01' or 'Reader extract - Montgomery et. al (2004)' together.
o The presence of NBS characters causes the voice to mispronounce the word appears before it, thus 'TMA[NBS]01' becomes 'TMA A 01', 'Block 1' becomes 'Bloke 1', 'Section[NBS]1' becomes 'Section r 1', and 'Reader[NBS]text extract[NBS]– ‘Investigating…’ Introduction ' becomes Re ad extracta er a investatag ing the ur a introduction'
o I think that en-dashes (especially in conjunction with a NBS) cause issues, and maybe apostrophes too, as 'we'll' becomes 'w e [something] l l'
