the external edito doesn't start via shortcut - only via contextmenu.
If the shortcut is executed within a editable/search field, it still opens the editor, but only shows the content of the editable field.
JS Console says
TypeError: webNavigation.document.body is null
Mozilla changed something inside their code and I've no time to try to fix it
Authors of Web Developer toolbar ( http://chrispederick.com/work/web-developer/ ) has released new version about month ago and their solution works. Maybe you can get inspired?
It's interesting that when I switch predefined save method from "Normal" to "DOM document", VSW works. But it shows generated source instead of the original one, of course.
I dont know particular reason, but now it works.
In function loadFromCache of urldownloader.js
addProgressListener call twice
Although an error, but it works and seems to be no problem.
loadFromCache [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIWebProgress.addProgressListener]" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://viewsourcewith/content/urldownloader.js :: <TOP_LEVEL> :: line 152" data: no]
i took detour..
we don't bother to edit the file.
just in about:config
view_source.editor.external = true
it works fine on fx16 and winXp
yes, I use the about-config workaround too, as it seems that this issue here won't be fixed
although it was too nice to use a more handfriendly shortcut (e.g. ctrl+A) with VSW...
Here (Firefox 16.0.1) ViewSourceWith does not work even via contextmenu. "view_source.editor.external" helped.
