No influence of upper/lower bounds

Upper/lower bounds seem to have no influence at all - in calculations I've had masses and pressures happily go below 0, without complaining.
Incidentally, some of the limits seem strange - e.g. pressure_t has a lower bound of 1.0e+02 - why? This should imo either be enforced, but user-adjustable, or reworded (if it's used for numerical normalization as I suspect).
