The lightning effect in this port is awesome(it looks so cool!!!).It will be quite well if this feature will be used in some moments like ships (re)-generation on the start point(light-blue color);energy-to-shield convertion(dark-blue);fusion impact(just like mega-missile was once,but purple);robots production(pink-purle);shield orbs(inside of them),for the energy-drainer robot in D2;items dematerialisation(green).Thnx.

    Any energy-draining robot already has lightning around it at the full setting.
    I think the reason more wasn't done was due to performance considerations - it does ramp up on some lower end PCs (like my old laptop) when there's a lot visible at once - think if you just had a huge battle and there are a bunch of shields boosts lying around. I wouldn't want my framerate to drop to a crawl while I try to pick up shield boosts before a matcen spawns another robot.
    I like the matcen idea - but the matcens already have shockwaves, which is cool enough. Don't think this is needed.
    I'd definitely push for a player spawn effect though - fusion already has lightning when overcharging (try it).

    Using lighting for spawn effects sounds like a good idea and could be made dependent on lighting settings in the effect options menu, so you could turn it off on weaker machines. Should certainly look better than the current implementation.
