#2899 Mac OSX-10.15.7 D2X-XL behavior

Relevant Data: iMac 5K (27"); Mac OSX 10.15.7; D2X-XL-1.18.64; CH Products Fighterstick USB, Pro Throttle USB.
To play the game with the joysticks, I have to unplug each joystick between each use of the game, clear all caches (per the installation instructions), and upon starting the game, each joystick must be re-configured (assuming the game recognizes it at all). Very frustrating!
