#2883 1.18.72 won't run

I've just found d2x-xl and tried to use it and it won't run. Everything compiled ok, but when I run the executable, it exits immediately (in terms of wall clock) with a return code of 1 with no errors or any indication as to what isn't working.

I ran an strace on it and attached it in case that gives any clues.
